Advisory Board

The Advisory Board is an international network of individuals who are leading experts in their STEM-related domain. They were selected for their complementary abilities, experience, and knowledge in order to advise the American STEM Institute and thereby benefit ASI members. The Advisory Board provides ongoing guidance to management on issues of strategy for long-term developmental plans. The Advisory Board provides guidance on ASI’s philosophy: our mission, core values, and Code of Ethics.

Sir Richard Roberts, Ph.D., FRS

Sir Richard Roberts, Ph.D., FRS serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. He is the winner of the 1993 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his innovative research on alternative splicing. Currently, Dr. Roberts serves as the Chief Scientific Officer of New England Biolabs, Inc., a leading multinational biotechnology company specializing in restriction enzymes. He serves as a Director and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of InVivo Therapeutics, a leading pharmaceutical company focusing on innovative cures for Spinal Cord Injury. He is the founder of REBASE, the world’s most comprehensive database of all genes and proteins associated with restriction modification systems. For his exceptional scientific leadership and research, he was knighted by the Queen of England. He has received a BS in Chemistry and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the University of Sheffield. He has passionately advocated for widespread use of Golden Rice to solve the global Vitamin A deficiency crisis. He is passionate about using scientific discovery and innovation to further society.

Dr. Michael Levitt, FRS

Dr. Michael Levitt, FRS serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. Dr. Levitt, a world-renowned biophysicist, received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his groundbreaking research on the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems. Currently at Stanford University, Dr. Levitt serves as Robert W. and Vivian K. Cahill Professor in Cancer Research in the School of Medicine and Professor of Structural Biology. Dr. Levitt was elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization in 1983, a Fellow of the Royal Society in 2001, and a member of the National Academy of Sciences in 2002. He serves as a Scientific Advisor for the biotechnology companies Cocrystal Discovery and StemRad.He has received a degree in physics from King’s College in London and a Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He is passionate about scientific innovation and discovery in the twenty-first century.

Dr. Maria Kontaridis

Dr. Maria Kontaridis serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. Dr. Kontaridis is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. She is the Director of the Basic Cardiovascular Research Program at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She serves as the Director of Research at the Masonic Medical Research Laboratory. She has received a Ph.D. from Yale University. She is passionate about inspiring and providing opportunities for women in developing nations to study in STEM and conduct impactful research.

Dr. Kushal Sanghvi

Dr. Kushal Sanghvi serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. Globally and across Asia he has held roles at iconic companies such as Reliance Group, Fremantle Media, Havas Media, and The Times of India Group. In his role as Managing Director, South Asia at Havas Digital, which he founded in India, he led the company’s social media group and started out Mobext, its mobile advertising solutions agency. He has invented interactive television in India for the pioneering show Indian Idol for Sony Television. He was a founder member of Rediff.com. At Reliance ADA Group, he leads digital transformation and has incorporated a digital marketing services company. An MBA from NMIMS and a doctorate in consumer behaviour, he has been an active guest lecturer in leading institutes across India, including the various IIM’s and IIT’s. He loves all that’s tech and is often always the first to try new technology, gadgets and more.

Mark Kirby

Mark Kirby serves as member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. He is a bold technology leader with years of leadership experience at leading multinational companies. Currently, he serves as a Vice President at Capgemini, a multinational professional services enterprise. He is the former Chief Technology Officer of Liberty Mutual Insurance, a leading multinational property and casualty insurer. He has received a BS in Mechanical Engineering and an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State University. He is passionate about building teams which excel at realizing today’s technology potential.

Warren Redlich

Warren Redlich serves as a member of the Advisory Board of the American STEM Institute. He is a highly successful politician, lawyer, author, and entrepreneur. He has been running his own law firm for over 15 years winning key cases, including the landmark federal appeal People v. DeYoung. He owns United Realty Group, a unique company focused on delivering exceptional value during the real estate sales process. He is the founder of West Boca News, a leading media company delivering top-notch real estate and restaurant content for the South Florida community. In addition, he is the co-founder of SpinJ Corporation, which operates a variety of websites, including Town-Court.com, a comprehensive directory of the U.S. court system. He has received a B.A. in Mathematical Economics from Rice University, a Masters in Political Science from Stanford University, and a J.D. from Albany Law School. He is passionate about ensuring that people have access to the rights that they deserve.
