Mathematics

Math is all around us, in everything we do. It is the building block for everything in our daily lives, including smart watches, skyscraper buildings, banking, and even sports. Mathematics is the abstract science of number, quantity, and space. Mathematics can generally be divided into pure math, which is the study of math in its own right, and applied math, which is the study of math as it is applied to a wide variety of other disciplines, including science, engineering, economics, and medicine.

Major mathematics subjects and topics within pure math include algebra, calculus, topology, number theory, geometry, logic, combinatorics. Key math subjects and topics within applied math are dynamic systems, differential equations, mathematical physics, computation, information theory, signal processing, probability, statistics, game theory, and operations.
